“Bad Girls Go Wild?”

On February 1, 2007, Professor Chesney-Lind presented the annual Beto Chair Lecture at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.

A video of her presentation, “Bad Girls Go Wild? Media Hype and Trends in Girls’ Violence and Aggression,” can be viewed at the Beto Lecture Archives.

The series is named for George John Beto, who served as a professor of criminology and corrections at Sam Houston State University from 1972 until 1991. Beto was appointed to the Texas Prison Board in 1953, and was director and chief of chaplains for the Texas Department of Corrections from March 1962 until 1972. He was a member of the Texas Constitutional Revision Commission, 1973-74, and a member of the Texas Youth Commission board, 1975-78.
